Milking
There are many ways to milk goats, for example - many ways to clean udders, chill milk, etc. This is how we have found things to work best for us here at Good Goats.

We can milk 7 goats at a time. The does are "loaded" on the stand.

Their udders are sprayed with (diluted) Nolvasan disinfectant spray and left to air dry.

We then strip the first squirt out of each doe's teats into a strip cup.

Does are then given their grain and milked.

The milk is filtered into gallon containters immediately after milking. When each container is full, it goes in the freezer. The milk is either left in there to freeze all the way, or taken out a little while later and put in the fridge.

Another way to chill milk, if you don't have a freezer close by, is to put the containers in a bucket with an ice water bath.

We've milked this way for quite some time, and have wonderful tasting milk and healthy goats!
